Two Representative Tribes of Queensland by John MATHEW

Out of stock

John Mathew spent long periods with the Kabi and Wakka peoples and published this book in 1910. Some of his views were challenged by contemporary anthropologists Spencer, Howitt and Fison but his studies of linguistics and ethnography are well-regarded today.

Best known for an earlier work, Eaglehawk and Crow (1899), Mathew’s Two Representative Tribes of Queensland is the result of many years study and is rarely seen on the open market.

Our copy is in very good condition and a very worthwhile addition to the collector’s shelf.
