Tombleson’s Rhine Books

Views Of The Rhine [together with] Upper Rhine: TOMBLESON, William
These handsome volumes, published in 1832, were effectively elaborate travel guides that depict various scenes and (predominantly) architecture along the route taken by this majestic German river.

The artist, William Tombleson (1795-1846), was a pioneering English steel engraver, writer and printmaker. These are the works for which he is most renowned.

Views of the Rhine includes an amazing 1.2m foldout engraved panoramic view of the 200km stretch from Cologne to Mayence.
