Wilkie Collins is considered by many to have been the father of the modern detection novel. Certainly, his two most highly-regarded novels – The Moonstone and Woman In White – are among the finest ever penned.
This copy of The Moonstone is the uncommon 1951 Folio Society edition in a scarce unclipped dustjacket. The Folio Society was established in 1947 and is now known for its slipcased editions (as can be seen from other FS books in our collection) but this book predates that production move.
It includes 9 beautiful full-colour lithographs by Edwin La Dell.
