Captain Cook’s Journal during his first Voyage round the World made in HM Bark ‘Endeavour’, 1768-71. A Literal Transcription of the Original Mss. with Notes and Introduction, edited by Captain W.J.L. Wharton.
This is the facsimile (reprint of 1893 edition) published by the Libraries Board of South Australia in 1968 (Australiana Facsimile Editions No. 188). In cream cloth boards with green spine label.
[Those paying particular attention to the dates will notice the time between the Voyage and the “literal transcription of the original” manuscripts to be over a century! Cook’s journal was originally published as an amalgamated account together with other officers’ journals and logs etc (notably that of Joseph Banks). These were published under the compiler’s name as “Hawkesworth’s Voyages” in 1773.]
