  • Rare portfolio of 50 unbound plates depicting various buildings & settings in Venice
  • Ferdinando Ongania was a bookseller in Venice who used high quality photogravure techniques to produce these scenes. Originally published in a large book form in 1891, with a second volume published in 1893, each containing 100 plates. This would appear to be a later rendering c1900, possibly produced by Ongania as a more economical option for tourists [not dated]
  • Green cloth boards, a little bumped & frayed at spine ends, gold inlay decorations & titling, card foldovers to create box, floral decoration, title plate plus 50 loose photogravure images of Venice, presume complete [lettering system marks plates a, b, c…y, z, aa, bb, cc, etc – missing j & jj but this letter not used in Italian alphabet]; an excellent copy
