Charles Blackman is one of Australia’s foremost artists and his series of Alice paintings, created in the 1950s, truly distinguished him.
This 1982 edition of Lewis Carroll’s classic tale is certainly a special one, being the first illustrated by such a renowned artist. Released intrinsically as a children’s book, it is difficult to find in the type of condition commanded by a book that has become highly sought as one of the most collectible representation’s of Blackman’s art.
This listing is for the particularly rare SIGNED copy – as pictured it is also dated and the location of the signing noted as ‘Heide‘ (the iconic former home of John & Sunday Reed and now Museum of Modern Art).
This signed copy is also in excellent condition with no noticeable flaws – even the spine of the dustjacket, which is notoriously often sun-damaged, remains consistent in colour.
