After Everest [SIGNED by] Tenzing Norgay

After Everest: An Autobiography is the story of Tenzing Norgay (1914-86) – the Nepalese Sherpa who led Sir Edmund Hillary to the summit of Mt Everest in the world-first ascension in 1953.

Tenzing never learn to read or write (obviously this autobiography was performed for him) but on a promotional tour of the UK in 1977 he was taught to sign his name and crudely date his autograph. This signature is a scarce physical remainder of one of history’s most influential personalities.
