An uncommon example of beautiful portraiture.

Published by The H.K. Fly Company, New York, in 1913.

The artists Penrhyn Stanlaws, Alonzo Kimball & Hamilton King were three of America’s finest early 20th Century illustrators. Stanlaws & King in particular were noted for magazine covers and cigarette cards throughout the 1920s.

This scarce book contains 10 beautiful full-page colour portrait plates and is a wonderful example of a style pioneered by these very artists.

The portraits are complemented each with a classic poem from various poets and are themselves in excellent condition, curiously untouched by the dampstain that has marked the base of all text pages. The boards are scuffed, particularly the rear, with some loss to the title on the front (pictured) and all edges bumped. Notwithstanding, this is a beautiful example of an uncommon art book.
