Beautiful complete set of the life works of Francis Lord Bacon in ten volumes (vols I-VI are in english; VII-X in latin) and published by Rivington et al in 1819.
Full calf binding with marbled endpapers and page edges; gilt decorations on spine; raised bands.
Some minor damage to spine tops on vols VI & IX and general browning throughout; some foxing on page edges; fold-out of “Memory. The general distribution of human knowledge.” sheet torn through but present (as pictured – NB the matching latin foldout is undamaged in vol VII).
All volumes contain the bookplate of Sir Alexander Russell (Alick) Downer and also (unknown) John Yates.
