This is a facsimile of an original 1845 copy held in the State Library of South Australia of Edward John Eyre’s Journals Of Expeditions Of Discovery Into Central Australia, And Overland From Adelaide To King George’s Sound, In The Years 1840-1; Sent By The Colonists Of South Australia With The Sanction & Support Of The Government: Including An Account Of The Manners And Customs Of The Aborigines And The State Of Their Relations With Europeans (as per the title page).

This copy is #28 of 99 deluxe quarter-leather copies (from a total limited edition run of 600) published by The Friends Of The State Library (1997). It comes complete with the two maps in the front pocket of Vol 1, which are pristine.

A very good copy of one of Australian exploration’s landmark works.
