Fully titled Journal Of Explorations In Central Australia By The Central Australian Exploration Syndicate, Limited, Under The Leadership Of Allan A. Davidson 1898 to 1900.
Phew! The title almost suffices as a blurb 🙂
This handsome two-volume set, published by the Friends Of The State Library Of South Australia in 2004, is a reproduction printing of Parliamentary Paper No. 27 (1905).
Consisting of one volume of text, with an introduction by Valmai Hankel and pasted-in location map at rear, together with a matching map case with five loose maps inserted – all in pristine condition.
Limited to 300 copies.
A geologist in the main, Davidson greatly expanded the general knowledge and improved the processes of goldmining in Australia. Despite this and his very worthy explorations, he remains one of the least well-known of Australian pioneers.
This book is a valuable addition to any true Australian historian’s collection.
